P10, Median (P50) and P90 describe distance-weighted smoothed speed, not tile area. Actual endpoint open/close speeds may lie outside this range. Mean pace uses elapsed time / distance, including pauses.
How to read the quilt · elevation method
Overview tiles each contain five consecutive distance windows. Drilling changes the area scale to that group, but all window share labels keep the whole-run denominator. Zero values get no tile; use the list or Previous / Next to reach every window.
Elevation uses a fixed 5 m spatial grid with centered triangular smoothing across 20 m. Missing samples carry forward; leading gaps use the first recorded elevation. Duplicate distances use the last elevation. This may soften short hills and differs from surveyed terrain. No external elevation service is used.
